The Requirements
Our customer, an innovative market leader in the plastic product manufacturing industry required bespoke lifting lugs to assist the manual handling elements of their operation.
The lifting lugs were required to attach securely to our customers injection moulds so our design team worked with our experienced team of fabricators to manufacture pairs of lifting lugs to the precise measurements our customer required, whilst ensuring the lugs provide the load capacity required.
The Solution
Our customer’s manufacturing operation involves moving injection moulds in and out of machinery, and around their workspace. Each injection mould required its own custom fabricated lifting lugs that provide the appropriate load capacity, whilst safely securing to the mould with a precision fitting.
We manufactured the bespoke designed lifting lugs in pairs as each mould requires 2 lifting lugs to proportionally balance the weight of the load. Each lifting lug is fitted with an eye bolt
that is then attached to a 2-leg sling and connected to an overhead crane for safe movement around the work space. Once the moulds have been manoeuvred into place the lifting lugs must be removed before being inserted into the machine, so they have been designed to easily bolt on to the moulds to minimise the time spent bolting and un-bolting between movements. This is easier than conventional slinging methods using round slings or spreader beams.
