Our customer, a leading engine manufacturer, required a series of lifting beams to configure with their existing crane system to carefully and safely handle heavy components during the manufacture process.
The customers intended application is to lift a range of components, so due to the varied size and weight of the loads, our customer required a 1,000kg safe working load (SWL) and the weight of the load would need to be distributed evenly during lifting, ensuring a safe and controlled lift. The lifting solution required should be flexible, configurable in a low headroom environment and rated to the correct lifting capacity.
The customer intends to lift and handle heavy components in and around their industrial facility as part of the manufacturing process, however the engine components have different sizes and weights that need to be taken into consideration.
We supplied our customer with 2 x aluminium two-point frames with adjustable drop centres and 2 x aluminium four-point frames with adjustable drop centres. The frames were manufactured in-house to suit the customers exact specifications and to provide the fastest possible delivery time as per their requirements.
Our customer chose aluminium lifting frames over a steel alternative to limit the unit weight impact of the lifting beams themselves on their crane system’s available load capacity and make manual handling easier for operatives to configure onto the crane. The frames each had a safe working load of 1,000kg, the aluminium was anodised to offer corrosion resistance and were fitted with articulated safety swivel hooks.
Both types of frames featured adjustable drop centres in 200mm increments that together with the two-point and four-point frame options also provides our customer with greater control over the weight and balance proportionality of the loads being lifted.
“Each of our customers are unique with their own set of requirements and priorities, and in this instance our customer urgently needed 2 sets of lifting frames as quickly as possible. We were able to work closely with the customer throughout the process and meet their deadline without compromising on their technical specification or the quality of the lifting frames we manufactured and supplied.”
