Clean room hoists and lifting equipment for the pharmaceutical sector require very stringent controls for contaminants. A clean room plays a key role in the manufacturing and research processes within a pharmaceutical organisation and essentially works to control microorganisms.
Avoiding contamination in a clean room is a challenge at every level. There are a variety of different instruments and supplied available to help and organisation keep their clean room running at peak performance and meet required industry standards.
Hoist UK have experience of working with pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to design, manufacture and supply quality, certified clean room lifting equipment. Our hoists and lifting mediums feature 304 and 316 stainless steel housing and components, including wheels, drum and hook block, and are also available with Dyneema Belt.
The demand for cleanroom facilities within manufacturing processes continues to rise and in-line with this demand, the need for appropriate lifting equipment increases. This can be seen within the rise in hi-tech manufacturing, particularly electronics that must be made and assembled in a dust free hygienic environment, as one of the dominating requirements driving the need for purpose designed cleanroom lifting equipment.
Cleanrooms are necessary in industries like pharmaceutical, semi-conductor manufacture, food production and aerospace, where facilities with very low levels of environmental pollutants are needed. Achieving and maintaining the necessary extreme levels of cleanliness, while still operating heavy equipment such as to lift and manoeuvre racks of products, requires a very special level of expertise.
Bouygues Energies and Services required a cleanroom standard hoist with bespoke features to be built into the ceiling of their Mars Rover simulation room. The hoist would be used to pick up the Mars Rover for general maintenance or in the event it falls over.
The simulation room at the Airbus facility in Stevenage has been designed to mimic the terrain on Mars and maintaining this environment is paramount. One of the key features in the design process of this project was the focus on cleanroon standards and to ensure our bespoke elements had a high standard of compliance.

This specific operation at the Oxford Space Systems facility was a newly conceived cleanroom and working closely together with the projects main contractor Total Projects UK and leading cleanroom design and construction specialists Clean Room Construction Ltd (CRC), Hoist UK designed and fabricated a free-standing structure that would not only be the support structure for the crane, but also for the cleanroom.
