The Challenge

Our design engineers coordinated the design of the crane system with the contractor from the early stages of the project so that we could make use of the buildings steelwork for installation. Access restrictions were a particular challenge because the 7 metre crane bridge needed to be installed before the plant’s roof went on.

The Solution

This newly developed plant was designed to provide a purpose built environment for maintenance, in support of their hydroelectrical scheme. The facility required an overhead crane system that could provide a lifting capacity of up to 7 tonnes and after careful discussion to understand the operations lifting requirements our technical sales team recommended a manual crane bridge complete with manual chain hoist

and geared travel trolley. The proposed lifting/handling system was the most suitable solution available to the customer for their unique operation and as the maintenance plant would not be in continuous operation a hand chain block is the most cost effective option.
