The Challenge

It was very important that the customer didn't lose any production time so the installation was planned for a weekend to ensure minimal disruption to their operations.

Our team of lifting engineers worked around the clock to ensure the installation and testing was completed during the designated weekend, leaving enough time for some user training before the system became operational on the Monday morning.

The Solution

Our client is a manufacturer and assembler of components for trains who required a robust crane system for their production facility. We worked with the client to understand their requirements and commission, supply and install a listing solution best suited to their operation and assist in optimising productivity.

The system consists of a free standing steel structure accommodating 2 x 1,000kg underslung cranes, which have been fitted with dual speed VLelectric chain hoists providing variable speed cross and long travel motions.

The crane system covered an area of 9.5 metres by 8 metres, with a lifting height of 3 metres.

Longitudinal travel of the crane was achieved using our PRV series articulated power trolleys, so that the maximum hook travel approaches could be achieved to give the customer the best possible crane coverage.

The crane system was designed, manufactured and installed over a weekend, so there was no loss of production for the customer.
