Our customer, a global leading producer of aero engines for large civil aircraft and corporate jets required a lifting beam that could safely lift, handle and lower uneven loads.
Our customer’s operation required a lifting solution to safely lift, handle and lower uneven loads like engine parts with a maximum lifting capacity of 500kg. In order to facilitate this requirement, the lifting beam would need to include adjustable drop centres, as well as a design feature to address the centre of gravity challenges when lifting and handling uneven loads.
We designed a bespoke load-leveller lifting beam with an adjustable sliding centre of gravity complete with sliding stops for our customer. The lifting beam has a knob to adjust the centre of gravity specifically designed to facilitate the safe lifting, handling and lowering of uneven loads, in accordance with our customer’s requirements.
The bespoke lifting beam also features 4 adjustable drop centres with 340mm of chain, and each chain has a safety bow shackle attached at one end to attach to the load during lifting or lowering. In our customers operation the shackles would be attached to engine parts and the centre of gravity adjusted before lifting commenced.
"We enjoy working with our customers to produce lifting solutions that are designed and manufactured to specifically meet their lifting requirements and this particular project is a strong example of how our technical and design teams worked with the customer to fully understand their needs and provide an ideal solution. In this case the lifting beam facilitated the safe lifting, handling and lowering of uneven loads which helped to streamline their operation and increase efficiency."
